2. The data we collect about you
Personal data means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data). We may collect, use, store and transfer the following kinds of personal data:

Special categories of personal data
Occasionally we may need to collect special category data (for example health conditions, allergies or pregnancy) where it is necessary to arrange an activity safely. We collect this from the lead organiser of your booking and process it only where strictly necessary to deliver the service, relying on your explicit consent where required.
Children
Our services are generally intended for adults. Where a booking involves children or young people, their personal data will normally be provided to us by a parent, guardian or the group organiser. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children.
3. How your personal data is collected
We use different methods to collect data from and about you, including:
- Direct interactions: when you make an enquiry, request a quote, book or purchase our services, create an account, use our live chat, enter a competition or survey, request marketing, or contact us by phone, email, SMS, WhatsApp or post.

4. How we use your personal data
We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests (where these are not overridden by your rights); compliance with a legal obligation; and your consent (for example for certain marketing and advertising activities). The table below summarises how we use your data and the lawful basis for each purpose.

4.1 Marketing
We may use your Identity, Contact, Profile, Usage and Marketing Data to decide which of our services and offers may be relevant to you. You will receive marketing from us where you have requested information, enquired or booked and have not opted out, or where you have given consent. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing will not affect service messages relating to a booking.
4.2 Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, understand how it is used and measure our advertising. The tools we use include, but are not limited to, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising (Bing), and may change from time to time. You can control non-essential cookies through our cookie and consent preferences, or set your browser to refuse some or all cookies. If you disable cookies, some parts of our website may not function properly. See our cookie policy for details of the specific cookies we use and how to manage them.
4.3 Change of purpose
We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider we need to use it for a compatible purpose. If we need to use it for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and explain the lawful basis.
4.4 Advertising and audience matching
We advertise online to reach existing and potential customers, including through Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To make our advertising more relevant and to control who sees it, we may share a limited amount of contact information (such as your email address or telephone number) with these platforms in a hashed form. "Hashed" means the information is converted into an irreversible, pseudonymised code before it is shared. The platforms match this against their own account holders in order to:
- show our advertising to you, or to people with characteristics similar to our customers ("lookalike" or "similar" audiences); and
- exclude existing customers from campaigns aimed at finding new customers, so that we do not spend on, or show you, advertising that is not relevant to you.
Where the law requires it, we rely on your consent for this activity, which you can withdraw at any time through our cookie and consent preferences or by contacting us. Where we rely on our legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time. When we upload hashed data for matching, the platforms are required to use it only to carry out the match and in accordance with their own terms (for Google, its Customer Match policies, and for Meta, its Custom Audiences terms), under which they act as an independent or joint controller for the matching activity. We do not share your data with these platforms for their own independent marketing purposes.
5. Disclosures of your personal data
We may share your personal data with the categories of recipient below. Where we name a specific provider we do so as an example only; we may use other providers of similar services, and the providers we use may change from time to time.
- Suppliers and event partners who deliver your booking, for example activity providers, accommodation providers, venues, restaurants, and transport and travel companies, in the UK and overseas.
- Our payment provider, Worldpay, which processes card payments securely. We do not store full card details ourselves.
- Technology providers that host our systems and support our operations, for example Salesforce (CRM), Microsoft 365 (email and productivity) and Google Workspace and related Google services.
- Analytics and advertising platforms, for example Google (Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads), Microsoft Advertising (Bing) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), including for the audience-matching activity described in section 4.4, and messaging channels such as WhatsApp where you choose to contact us through them.
- Professional advisers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers.
- HM Revenue and Customs, regulators and other authorities where we are required to report.
- Third parties to whom we may sell, transfer or merge parts of our business or assets; if so, the new owners may use your personal data as set out in this policy.
We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process it for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. The examples of providers named in this policy are illustrative; we may use other or additional providers of similar services from time to time, and where we do we apply the same standards.
6. International transfers
Because we arrange events in the UK and overseas, and because some of our service providers are based outside the UK, your personal data may be transferred outside the UK. Whenever we transfer personal data out of the UK, we ensure a similar degree of protection by relying on an appropriate safeguard, such as a UK adequacy decision for the destination country, the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses), or another lawful transfer mechanism. Where you book an event outside the UK, we may need to transfer your data to the suppliers providing that event so that your booking can be fulfilled. Please contact us for further information on the safeguards we use.
7. Data security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. We limit access to your personal data to those who have a business need to know, and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. We have procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator where we are legally required to do so.
8. Data retention
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including to satisfy any legal, tax, accounting or reporting requirements, and to resolve disputes. By law we must keep basic information about customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after a booking for tax purposes. We may retain information for longer where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. In some circumstances we will anonymise your data for research or statistical purposes, in which case we may use it indefinitely without further notice. You can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances (see section 9).
9. Your legal rights
Under data protection law you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Request access to your personal data (a "subject access request").
- Request correction of your personal data.
- Request erasure of your personal data.
- Object to processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing.
- Request restriction of processing of your personal data.
- Request transfer of your personal data (data portability).
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
You will not usually have to pay a fee to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request, to make sure personal data is not disclosed to anyone who has no right to receive it. We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month; occasionally it may take longer if the request is complex, in which case we will keep you updated. To exercise any of these rights, please contact info@dickorate.co.uk.
10. Automated decision-making
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or that similarly significantly affect you. Some of our website and advertising tools use automated processing to show relevant content and advertising, but this does not have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
11. Glossary of lawful bases
Legitimate interests: the interest of our business in conducting and managing it to provide you with the best service and a secure experience. We balance any impact on you and your rights before processing on this basis, and we do not use your data where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise permitted by law).
Performance of a contract: processing your data where it is necessary to perform a contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Legal obligation: processing your data where it is necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Consent: your clear, affirmative agreement to a specific use of your data, which you can withdraw at any time.
